Our trip to Oak Glen was wonderful. Our tour guides Eva and Mark took us through the property. Mark explained the variety of apples that are grown there and the types of vegetation native to the area. Eva took us through the packing house, which dated back to the '30's and still is in use today. She also took us into the apple cider press room, which also dates back to the thirties.

Our group at Los Rios Rancho

We hiked over to the old school house, which is part of the Los Rios Rancho, and has been brought back to its original condition thanks to the many volunteers there. The class room is in pristine condition and the artifacts are wonderful. If you missed the trip and have not been there I strongly recommend that you take a day and treat yourself to this amazing place.

Here we are at the old school house

The bus ride down there was a treat in itself. Lee Cozad brought along a video of an old Lake Arrowhead classic called "Dulcey" which we viewed on the various monitors on board the bus. A big thank you to Peter Jorris who coordinated the tour and Lee for the movie. I'd also like to thank Jim Glen for suggesting the trip.
