Horses for Hire
The Blue Jay Stables offered inexpensive horse rentals to visitors to the area from the 1940's to the 1960's. Public access to the lake was once possible, and what better way then by horse-back. |

Blue Jay Drugs
Built by Stoney DeMent in 1934. He is given credit for the naming of Blue Jay - named after the mountain Stellar Jay's - mistakenly called Blue Jays by most. This community has grown from the site of a lumber mill to a busy commercial center. Originally homesteaded by the Wixom family in 1914. |

Skating in Blue Jay
The first ice rink was built in 1935. Later known as the Probst Ice
Castle. It featured an Olympic-size rink, where recent Olympian Michelle
Kwan trained. |
