CALENDAR FOR 2009 Saturday August 1, 6pm
HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO PRESENT "MURDER AT THE TUDOR" The Rim of the World Historical Society is preparing to stage a murder mystery lampoon and a buffet dinner at the historic Tudor House Saturday, August 1 from 6 pm through 9 pm. It promises to be a full evening of fun and wonderful food. The gala event is a fundraiser for the Society's Museum of San Bernardino mountain history. Co-president of the Society, Lee Cozad says he expects the museum to be open this year. The Society Board of Directors will play the roles and spoof 1940s celebrities who are suspects in the murder. Some of the celebrities in attendance will be: Veronica Flake, Robert Itchem, Bugsy Seagull, and Joan Crawfish. Guests will be asked to try to solve the crime. The plot begins with the discovery of famed movie star, Clark Clark's body in front of the Tudor House. Clark was a famous leading man who was adored by the public and despised by many of his costars. The reasons for their dislike were varied—from hogging the limelight to groping to loving & leaving to assorted affairs. Regardless of his faults, which also included regular drunkenness, the producers and studios put up with him and paid him more and more each film. Yet, his last three stunk, and his acting had been slipshod. Worse yet, they bombed at the box office. The trades were not kind, referring to Clark as, "worn out....over the hill...washed up flotsam." Mr. Clark's body was found by a jogger, lying in the parking lot of the Tudor House next to a bottle of Jack Daniels. The coroner's crime team determined he had been clubbed about the head with a blunt object, stabbed repeatedly, strangled, shot four times, poisoned with a dart dipped in Karari, run over by a large vehicle, then bitten by a rattler. The police are surmising the snake was used to make it look like an accident. Reservations for the evening are $75 per person and include an exceptional buffet, no host bar and mystery play. 1940s era costumes optional. Make your reservations today because seating is limited and reservations will be taken on a first come first served basis. Deadline for reservations is July 22.
